I’m Karen, CEO of OccuMath Teaching Methods, LLC, (formerly known as The A Plus Teacher)
I am a passionate learner and educator!
Dr. Karen Brown’s Teaching Experience
I have over ten years of teaching experience with many different roles in education!
I’ve been a special education teacher, a general education teacher, a tutor, and an interventionist!
I have experience teaching 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade. I also have experience teaching middle school intervention 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade.
While I was in the classroom, I saw other teachers, just like me, needed supplemental resources and strategies to meet the needs of all students. So I started to create my own resources to use in the classroom and to share with colleagues. Now I share helpful resources and strategies with teachers all across the nation and world!
Dr. Karen Brown’s Education
I have a variety of standard teaching certifications in New Jersey which include: Teacher of Preschool Through Grade 3, Elementary School Teacher in Grades K-6, Elementary School Teacher with Mathematics Specialization in Grades 5-8, K -12 Teacher of Students with Disabilities, and Reading Specialist.
During my bachelors, I studied elementary education with a variety of endorsements. Later I earned a master’s in Literacy Instruction with a Reading Specialist certification. In Then in May 2024, I received my doctorate in Educational Leadership. My doctoral dissertation research focused on how participation in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) can have a positive influence on teacher sense of self-efficacy and student learning outcomes! I also love to provide schools and teachers with coaching and consulting services to effectively implement PLCs that can have a positive influence on teacher sense of self-efficacy and student learning outcomes. How Dr. Karen Brown Helps Teachers
My goal is to help serve teachers and their students every day! I help teachers easily differentiate fun and engaging lessons to help their students better understand the concepts they are learning!
My goal is to help math teachers create effective and engaging math lessons to help their students succeed!
I share fun and engaging math resources and strategies that teachers can use to meet the differentiated learning needs of their students in their classroom.
